[test rant for this website]

I love the difference between Rapture and Columbia in the bioshock universe. rapture is a long gone utopia founded on very sincere beliefs of knowledge and scientific discovery that then was corrupted and ruined by morally black experiments that basically mutated everyone. while sort of elitist and capitalist for it's "all the rich people can conduct their experiments without government supervision under the sea" mentality, it does have the foundation of knowledge and science as its backbone. Columbia is the exact opposite. It is founded by a lie, it is pretending to be the ultimate heaven, it is incredibly racist and everything is super dictator-y, but it somehow is weirdly functional because of the dictatorness and racism. well, it's sort of functional. Rapture is a wonderful idea executed extremely poorly, Columbia is a terrible, cultish, racist power hungry god-fantasy executed absolutely perfectly

[Rivers Cuomo is kind of a music trend genius]

rivers cuomo (head of weezer) is insane and also kind of an analytics genius he literally spent time in the late 90s cracking the formula for how to make a hit single rock song. like, he has spreadsheets of just, how to organize a "hit song" that follows specific chord progressions and sort of mastered the art of making charting singles without putting too much thought into it. He just, knows how to make a popular song because he spent actual years following the release of pinkerton in 1996 analyzing popular song structure and trends in the charts, and basically mastered it. on the internet as well. with not much effort. E.G. their cover of Africa basically exploded on a bunch of alternative radio stations in 2018 for no goddamn reason. genuinely it cornered the alternative radio stations for a while (i might be exaggerating). it's a shit cover that's really lazy too.

P.S. this is also helped by the fact that cuomo made pinkerton as a really heartfelt rock album and it just flopped hard as hell, so he stopped putting his full soul into stuff.

[Watchmen in concept]

The Watchmen from Watchmen are really funny in concept because on their team they have: an extremely smart guy who's also quite strong, a mentally ill loner who's good at shooting things, a mentally ill loner who's good at punching things (and investigating), a washed up loner who's also good at punching things, an emotionally fraught person who's also good at punching things, and then God. And the last two members are in a committed relationship.
